After Daniel finds out that that Old Peg Leg, a Crimean war veteran hasn't been getting any pension despite his war
injuries, he sets up a newspaper campaign protesting against this injustice. Thomas tries to improve himself. Emma finds
out that Peg Leg has been hiding money in his wooden leg and isn't poor like he claims. Daniel decides to expose him
after learning the truth from Emma. When finally confronted by Dorcas, Emma, Laura and Daniel he tells them the reason
behind his decision to hoard his money.
